It’s with breaking hearts that after 8 years we have to announce the Saint John Yoga Co-op will be closing its doors on December 23rd.
We want to thank all the students and teachers over the years that has helped us build this incredible community. Being the only Nonprofit yoga studio around,we were able to offer programs for under privileged children, seniors, be a safe haven for women from abusive relationships and people suffering with addiction free of charge .
Even with all the support of our wonderful teachers, yogis and awesome landlords with this current situation we are unable to keep our doors open.
We will hopefully get back in the studio soon for people to use up their passes and if that does not happen we will be offering Zoom classes for December.
Growing up my grandmother would never let us say goodbye ,we always had to say So Long because goodbye was too permanent. So instead of saying goodbye we are saying So Long for now.
With all the love in our hearts….
Studio closed for the week.
In the interest of everyone’s safety we have decided to keep the studio closed for the week and will re-evaluate next Sunday as to what the next steps will be. Please stay safe 🙏🏼
We have decided to close the studio for the weekend and
re-evaluate Sunday evening as to how the week will go. Sorry for any inconvenience but we want to keep our yogis safe.
There has been no known exposure event at the studio, but in light of recent possible community transmission in the zone we wish to be cautious.
Thank you for understanding 🙏🏼
Caitlin completed her YTT with One Yoga’s Living Yoga School in addition to completing a Yoga Alliance Certified Vinyasa Yoga for Youth teacher training that taught her the benefits of this practice for all ages and abilities. She is also a Holistic Nutritionist who believes that the healing power of food is augmented exponentially with support from a consistent yoga practice.
Her first real yoga class was a mat-to-mat packed hot practice for which she was definitely not prepared, but with which she fell in love instantly. From that point on she was hooked as this practice taught her the value of self-reflection, stillness, love, patience, and compassion towards herself and others.
Her current favourite styles to teach and practice are sloth (restorative) yoga and vinyasa flow. She believes that the benefit of a consistent yin practice gives her students the tools necessary to turn off their fight or flight response, to practice self-soothing habits, and to connect with their bodies on a deeper level creating the foundation for a loving relationship with one’s self.
She loves to create space for healing at wellness retreats, yoga & cooking classes, and live talks in her community.
The past three months has turned the world upside down. Nothing is the same, nothing is normal. Our relationship with ourselves and others has changed, and our Yoga practice will be different. We hope to assist you in this unknown, to find stability under your feet and courage in your core! The Yoga Co-op has moved through the upside downs and is slowly, gently-like a great Yin posture starting to open.
Please take some time to read through our changes, listen to yourself when deciding whether you come into the studio for class or partake in our on-line, live Zoom Yoga classes, we are all going through this difficult, changing climate in our own way- honour yourself and do what is best for you.
We look forward to sharing our love of Yoga with you,
Sarah & Jackie
Some changes at the studio:
o Registration prior to each class, class limit: 8 students
o The studio will be open for you to enter and set up your mat 20 minutes prior to each class
o Please arrive no later than 5 minutes before class
o Bring your own mat, props and water
o Only one student in front lobby area at a time to sign in
o If you can, please arrive in your Yoga attire to limit extra bags, coats, etc..
We understand it will take some time to get used to these changes, for the staff as well! But it is important for students to take these guidelines seriously so we can continue to offer a safe space for all students who attend.
